Criminal Background Check

KTTS will request the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, other States (as appropriate), the FBI/U.S. Courts and other federal agencies (as appropriate) to release all information and data about you for the purpose of your contracting relationship with us. We reserve the right to check criminal background information sources in other states. Interpreters must disclose all of the convictions or pleas that have been documented, even if the conviction or plea has been discharged, expunged, or otherwise removed from your record.

KTTS is required to perform a one time comprehensive criminal background checks on all contract interpreters; plus review the Office of Inspector General Exclusion listing (“OIG”) and System for Award Management (“SAM”) on a monthly basis to verify interpreters are not excluded from participation in or sanctioned by any federally funded government program.

KTTS will request and obtain information about you from a consumer reporting agency for the purpose of your prospective and/or ongoing contractual relationship with us. Thus, you may be the subject of a “consumer report.” This background information may be obtained in the form of consumer reports and/or investigative consumer reports (commonly known as “background check reports” or “background checks”). Convictions and pleas are not an automatic bar. We will consider relevant factors such as how long ago the event occurred, seriousness and nature of the violation, as well as evidence of rehabilitation and/or probation served. If in the opinion of KTTS and/or ours clients, the results of the criminal background screening are unsatisfactory, an offer of contract that has been made may be withdrawn or your contract with KTTS, may be terminated.

I understand that I am applying as an Independent Contractor with Kim Tong Translation Service, Inc., and not as an employee of Kim Tong Translation Services.

In January of each calendar year, I understand I will be provided with a 1099 Tax Form, and that I bear responsibility for my own state and federal income taxes.
